Sunday, April 21, 2024: Hub-to-Hub Communication Drill!

This Radio + Runner exercise involved our hub plus other Central East sector hubs Madison ParkEpiphany-Madrona and North Capitol Hill. A small group of people at each hub including GMRS operators and cyclists passed messages between hubs both physically and over the air and recorded the response time  to complete them.

Our neighbors at the Madison Park Hub practised Advanced Hub Roles.  Madison Valley team members were present, too! Held at the Parkshore Senior Living Community.

Saturday March 9th, 2024: Great Hall at Epiphany Episcopal Church

The new Epiphany/Madrona Hub hosted its first informational meeting. This hub covers the area just to the Southeast of our hub catchment zone, but it is still in its early stages of development.  Peter and Frank from our hub stopped by to support Cindi Barker in her presentation to Madrona residents.

Saturday Nov 4, 2023: Scouts Hub Disaster Drill at the MLK Fame Center

From Noon to 2pm, we ran a Disaster Drill for local Scouts! The drill involved setting up and striking tents, understanding Hub Roles, and practicing scenarios they are likely to encounter during a disaster.

Thursday, October 12th, 2023: Tabletop 101 Drill at the MLK Fame Center

From 7pm to 9pm, we practiced (on paper, sitting at tables) setting up and running a Hub. We learned how a Hub provides immediate and essential support to our communities after an emergency (in our area, most likely an earthquake). 

Saturday, September 9th, 2023: Grand Opening

From 1:00 to 2:00 pm, we held a Grand Opening for the Madison Valley Hub!  Food and beverages were served while neighbors were walked through the various stations as they would be set up during an emergency.
